Good earphones are an indispensable attribute of every melody, but not only. We use them by playing computer games, chatting on Internet communicators or listening to MP3s on the way to work.

First: What do you want to hear?

Depending on whether you want to use headphones connected to a portable device, a computer, or a stationary music source, you have several options. The most popular headphones at a reasonable price are in-ear models, portable and multimedia. Also popular among ordinary users are the DJ headphones, of course, the middle and lower shelves.

In-ear headphones – an indispensable attribute of music lovers on the way to work or school, jogging or walking. Mobility has gained recognition among active young people, although they do not provide the highest level of sound quality. They are very comfortable and small in size. It is placed in the ear or inside the ear canal. Although this is currently the most popular type of headphones, they expose the ears to a heavy load, so we should use them very carefully.

Portable headphones – still in the 90’s were the most popular headphones. The two ends connected by a neckband or head were very successful. They are mobile enough to work on bicycling or skateboarding, but they do not provide the same convenience as the in-ear models. The newer solution is a clip-on type without a headband. They are assumed with special ear hooks.

Multimedia headphones – it’s hard to imagine without them Skype talk or computer games. Their construction is based on a brace, and a characteristic feature is a built-in microphone. This is why they are a frequent attribute of production crews on television or filmmakers.

DJ Headphones – As you can see, DJs have had their own variety of headphones. They will like them a little more demanding melody, who after all do not want to spend big money on professional studio or Hi-Fi headphones. For a few dozen gold you can buy good headphones, which offer very decent sound quality. Their task is to isolate the person from all the sounds coming from the outside, so they must be carefully built up
And very robust – resistant to damage.

Second: with or without cable?

As a standard, headphones with a sound source connect to the cable, but for added convenience, wireless models are introduced. With digital or Bluetooth technology, they can be connected to each device via the base station, and the distance the device connects to is greater than the cable –
In the room an average of 30 meters.

Third: parameters

Most important from the point of view of your purchase decision will be the parameters of the headphones.

Frequency range – or the range of sounds offered by the model – from the lowest to the highest. The band is defined in Hertz (Hz). The average person whose hearing is already slightly damaged receives signals in the range of about 30 Hz – 16000Hz. Sounds above and below these values are not received by them and sound quality has no meaning. Most stores offer 20 Hz – 20 kHz headphones, which for most receivers are sufficient.

Impedance – measured in Omach, or resistance. The higher the value, the higher the noise and the noise, but they will work quieter. If the resistance is lower – the noise will be more susceptible to noise, but at the same time the headphones will be louder. Higher impedance values have variations for use with fixed equipment. Most models on the market have a range of 16-64 ohm impedance and these are the right values. Nevertheless, it is always worth adjusting the impedance of the headphones to the parameters of the device with which they will work.

Efficiency – determines how effectively electrical energy translates into the volume of the headphones. 95 decibels (dB) is sufficient value, but of course there are many models of higher scale. Each of us should consider the level of noise he wants to expose his ears.

Fourth: price

For most users, price is the most important parameter of choice – it varies greatly depending on the manufacturer, quality or destination of the device. The cheapest earphones can be bought for about $3, although their price can be as many as tens of thousands of gold. For the average recipient, the differences in sound quality between the various variants of the equipment are virtually indistinguishable.
