Wireless Headphones have been popular for quite some time and they are now the preferred choice over traditional corded headphones. The main reason is of course, the ease of use where you don’t have to worry about snapping off the cord or getting it tangled. Wireless headphones provide a great deal of comfort and ease of use that can allow you to do a variety of activities with the added luxury of listening to music or your favorite audio program. I don’t know what I would do without my headphones since I use them to workout, go running, on a walk, when traveling to work and even in bed to relax and calm down. In this article we will be looking at the different types of wireless headphones available so you can choose the right one for you.
Radio frequency wireless headphones
The first type are radio frequency wireless headphones. These headphones offer crystal clear sound, a wide listening range and are surprisingly affordable. There are also high end versions of these headphones such as the well-known, Sennheiser, Pioneer and Sony brands. The majority of these headphones are battery powered where the batteries are stored in the transmitter. Basically, you plug the transmitter into the audio output of whatever device you’re using and it will then transmit the signal to your wireless headphones. The only possible disadvantage of using radio frequency based headsets is the possibility of extra static and interference. You will also note that these headphones are a little heavier and might not have the bass capabilities of other types of headphones.
The next type of wireless headphone we will look at are infrared headphones. Infrared headphones use light emitting diodes (LEDs) which create a beam of invisible pulsating light that is transmitted between the wireless headphone and its transmitter. This type of headphone requires a clear line of sight between the headphone and the transmitter in order to work. As a result, you will be restricted in the types of activities you can use infrared headphones but you will be able to use them in the car, to watch television or listen to music at home while your spouse is sleeping or at your computer.
Lastly, we will look at Bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth headphones provide a very high quality sound, but are limited in their available range. You can use a Bluetooth headphone for your smartphone, iPod, Mp3 player etc.
In closing, whatever your wireless headphone needs may be, I’m certain that you will find the right one after reading this article.
